My passion is to encourage people to welcome challenges, rise from failures and mistakes, and rebuild with perpetual hope, kindness, compassion and resiliency.
I’ve accomplished a B.A. in Religious Studies from George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, and a Masters of Divinity from Yale Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut. My resume includes diverse positions as an apartment complex maintenance worker, food server, apprentice wildlife field biologist, biology lab aid, retail manager, librarian, ministerial intern, adjunct professor of religious studies, bartender and cocktail waitress, direct sales senior sales director, non-profit volunteer extraordinaire, committee chair and coordinator, emcee, professional development facilitator and inspirational speaker.
After six years as an adjunct professor of biblical studies, I made a surprising switch to direct sales, where I quickly became a top national achiever, earning several awards and then accepting training opportunities for various sales force groups, locally and nationally, in person, by teleconference and video conferencing. I built a successful, charismatic team, wherein several individuals also went on to create distinguished careers with the same company. The transfer of success is greater than personal success.
I’ve served on the Board of Directors (2014) and as the Family Selection Committee Chair (2016) for Newberg Area Habitat for Humanity, leading the selection process for several families in our service area. I’ve also served as a group member of the Young Professionals of Yamhill Valley (2014) and committee member for the Young Pro’s Tunes on Tuesday, an annual event comprising of an 8-week community concert series (2015), becoming co-chair in 2016, leading my team in successful grant-writing and subsequent program expansion, developments which also created positive, wide-spread, generalized community impact. I’ve also volunteered with other local non-profits, like A Family Place (Newberg, OR – as a fundraising event emcee), Portland Rescue Mission (Portland, OR), Love, INC. (Newberg, OR), the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce (Newberg, OR) and the Oregon Food Bank (Portland, OR). I’ve attended training sessions with Rural Development Initiatives and the Non-Profit Association of Oregon, and I’m a member of the Noon Rotary Club of Newberg, Oregon and the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce Leadership Newberg Class of 2019. In May 2018, I was sworn in as a Yamhill County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for abused and neglected children.
In June 2018, I was hired as the CEO for the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce, where I find joy in serving my community by supporting education, economic development, community building, culture, heritage and connecting influencers and resources.
A Pacific Northwest native, I enjoy cooking (eating), gardening, books, movies, music and harmless shenanigans with my family in Newberg, Oregon. I’m proud to parent two compassionate, fun and intelligent humans, Anna and Bennet.
